Following the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban, the group spokesman in a trending video said: "Women can be educated up to university level and will all wear the hijab."
The Taliban spokesman confirmed that women in Afghanistan will have the right to work and be educated up to university level following the takeover of Afghanistan.
During an interview with Sky News, Suhail Shaheen said "thousands" of schools continue to operate, following the Taliban takeover but women will be expected to wear the hijab and not the burka.
"These are not our rules, these are Islamic rules. It is for their security."
